FROM THE BLACK SEA TO THE CAUCASUS
On the first day of our tour, we begin with an extra Black Sea breakfast prepared with regional specialties that are indispensable to the area. After our breakfast break, we follow the Black Sea coastal road towards the Sarp Border Gate. Once we complete our customs clearance, the natural beauties of the region accompany us on this journey where green meets blue. Upon completing border procedures, we step into Georgia and, after a short drive, reach our first destination, the Makhuntseti region. We visit the historic Makhuntseti Stone Bridge, built by Queen Tamar of Georgia, followed by a short walk and photo stop at the lush Makhuntseti Waterfall nestled in the heart of nature. Next, we visit an authentic wine house where we can closely experience the important part of Georgian culture: its wine tradition. (Adjarian Wine House, entrance fee 20 Georgian Lari). Guests who wish may taste and purchase world-famous Georgian wines here. After our break, we head towards Batumi city center. During our walking tour in central Batumi, we have the opportunity to taste kvas, fresh pear juice, and Italian-style ice cream—indispensable flavors of Batumi streets. Guests who wish may enjoy their lunch tasting Georgian delicacies. We have the chance to closely explore the city’s multicultural structure and the traces it has carried throughout history. Among the buildings we will see are the Central Mosque, which dates back to the Ottoman period; the Clock Tower, one of Batumi’s symbols; Piazza Square, with its architecture reminiscent of European cities; the Government Building; and the Theater Building. While stopping in front of the Astronomical Clock to observe time from a different perspective, St. Nicholas Church and the Poseidon Statue showcase the city’s religious and mythological richness. Seeing Hotel France, where the prominent figure of Turkish literature Nazım Hikmet once stayed, adds a special meaning to the tour. After seeing the Justice Palace, notable for its modern architecture in the shape of an inverted bottle, and the White Restaurant, shaped like an upside-down building, we move to the Old Port area. We listen to the compelling story of the Ali and Nino statues, symbolizing love and time, and then experience the evening magic of Batumi by watching water shows performed with music and lights. FROM ANCIENT KINGDOMS TO SOVIET FOOTSTEPS
On the second day of our tour, after breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we depart from the Black Sea coast and begin our journey towards the interior of Georgia. Our route, proceeding via Batumi, leads us to Kutaisi, the country's second-largest city after Tbilisi and one of its most important historical centers throughout history. Accompanied by green valleys and mountain views, this enjoyable journey allows us to closely discover Georgia's natural fabric. Upon arrival in Kutaisi, we take a short exploration of the city center and begin strolling among structures reflecting the region's historical identity. Next, we visit the Bagrati Cathedral, listed on UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage and considered one of the most significant works of medieval Georgian architecture. This magnificent structure, which has witnessed centuries of kingdoms and faiths, appears before us as a powerful symbol of the Georgian Orthodox tradition and the country's historical continuity. Then, we turn our route to Gori, the city where a name that left an indelible mark on 20th-century world history was born. Along the way, we will stop for a short extra lunch break and rest at a suitable facility. In this city known as the birthplace of Josef Stalin, the Soviet leader of Georgian origin, we visit the Stalin Museum. During our museum tour, we have the opportunity to see the modest wooden cottage (Stalin House) where Stalin was born in 1878 and spent his early childhood years, his personal belongings, and documents shedding light on his political life. Additionally, the special Pullman carriage used by Stalin during official travels, reflecting the grandeur of that era, becomes one of the most striking parts of the visit. This stop enables us to witness not only ancient but also recent history of Georgia. After our museum visit, we leave Gori and head towards Mtskheta, accepted as the heart of Georgian history and Christianity, and also the former capital of the country. In this holy city, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, we visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built in the 11th century. As one of Georgia's most important religious buildings, this cathedral is considered by the Georgian Orthodox faith to be the place where the Holy Robe of Jesus Christ is kept, holding great spiritual value for the country.
