JOURNEY FROM THE BLACK SEA TO THE CAUCASUS
On the first day of our tour, we will gather at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport at 03:40 in the morning with our new chip-enabled ID cards to begin preparations for our journey. After completing baggage and ticket procedures, we will embark on a scheduled flight with Sunexpress Airlines departing at 05:40. Upon arrival at Trabzon Airport after approximately one hour, we will meet our vehicle waiting at the airport exit and start the day with an extra Black Sea breakfast featuring local specialties prepared by our guide. Following our breakfast stop, we will proceed along the Black Sea coastal road towards Sarp Border Crossing. As we cross the customs checkpoint, the region's natural beauty accompanies us on this journey where green meets blue. Once border formalities are completed, we step into Georgia and, after a short drive, reach our first destination, the Makhuntseti region. We visit the historic Makhuntseti Stone Bridge, commissioned by Queen Tamar of Georgia, followed by a short walk and photo stop at the Makhuntseti Waterfall nestled in the heart of lush nature. Next, we visit an authentic winery where we can closely experience the important Georgian wine tradition (Adjarian Wine House, entrance fee 20 Georgian Lari). Guests who wish may taste and purchase world-famous Georgian wines here. After our break, we head towards Batumi city center. During our walking tour in central Batumi, we have the opportunity to try the indispensable flavors of Batumi streets: kvas, fresh pear juice, and Italian-style ice cream. Guests who wish may enjoy lunch tasting Georgian delicacies during their free time. We have the chance to closely explore the city's multicultural structure and the traces it has carried throughout history. Among the buildings we will see are the Central Mosque dating back to the Ottoman period, the iconic Batum Clock Tower, the Piazza Square with its architecture reminiscent of European cities, the Government Building, and the Theater Building. Stopping in front of the Astronomical Clock, we observe time from a different perspective, while the St. Nicholas Church and the Poseidon Statue showcase the city's religious and mythological richness. Seeing the Hotel France, where the prominent figure of Turkish literature Nazım Hikmet once stayed, adds a special meaning to our tour. After observing the modern Justice Palace shaped like an inverted bottle and the White Restaurant designed as an inverted building, we move to the Old Port area. FROM ANCIENT KINGDOMS TO SOVIET TRACES
On the second day of our tour, after breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we depart from the Black Sea coast and begin our journey towards the interior of Georgia. Our route, proceeding via Batumi, leads us to Kutaisi, the country's second-largest city after Tbilisi, which has historically been one of its important centers. This enjoyable journey, accompanied by green valleys and mountain views, allows us to closely discover Georgia's natural fabric. Upon arrival in Kutaisi, we take a short exploration in the city center and begin strolling among structures reflecting the region's historical identity. Then, we visit the Bagrati Cathedral, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and considered one of the most important works of Medieval Georgian architecture. This magnificent structure, which has witnessed kingdoms and faiths for centuries, appears before us as a powerful symbol of the Georgian Orthodox tradition and the country's historical continuity. Next, we turn our route to Gori, the city where a name that left an indelible mark on 20th-century world history was born. Along the way, we will stop for a short extra lunch break and rest at a suitable facility. In this city known as the birthplace of the Soviet leader Josef Stalin, who was of Georgian origin, we visit the Stalin Museum. During our museum tour, we have the opportunity to see the modest wooden hut where Stalin was born in 1878 and spent his early childhood years (Stalin's House), as well as his personal belongings and documents shedding light on his political life. Additionally, the special Pullman carriage used by Stalin during official travels, reflecting the grandeur of that era, becomes one of the most striking parts of the visit. This stop allows us to witness not only Georgia's ancient past but also its more recent history. After the museum visit, departing from Gori, we head towards Mtskheta, accepted as the heart of Georgian history and Christianity, and also the country's former capital. Listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, in this holy city, we visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built in the 11th century. As one of Georgia's most important religious structures, this cathedral is considered, according to the Georgian Orthodox faith, the place where the Holy Robe of Jesus Christ is kept, holding great spiritual value for the country. During our short stroll through Mtskheta's stone streets, we explore small shops where we can find local handicraft products, traditional Georgian sweets, and souvenirs. For lunch, we recommend trying Georgia's simple yet delicious local snacks. After our visit to Mtskheta, we continue towards Tbilisi. Then, we set off towards Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Guided by our tour leader, we learn about the formation of Georgian national identity and take a photo break while enjoying the view of Tbilisi Lake. Next, we visit the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral, one of the largest religious structures in the Caucasus. As a magnificent example of Georgian Orthodox architecture, this building is regarded as both a religious and national symbol. While examining the interior and exterior architecture of the cathedral, we gain important insights into the beliefs and traditions of the Georgian people. Continuing with our program, we return to central Tbilisi for a short free time break for lunch. After our break, we begin an enjoyable excursion offering panoramic views of Tbilisi. With the cable car ride providing some of the city's most breathtaking vistas, the winding curves of the Kura River and the urban fabric where old and new intertwine are revealed in all their beauty. Following our cable car journey, we see the Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda) statue, one of the important symbols of Georgian national identity. This monument, holding a wine glass for guests and a sword for enemies, symbolizes the hospitality and fighting spirit of the Georgian people. Immediately after, we visit Narikala Fortress, one of the oldest defensive structures in Tbilisi. From here, we capture unforgettable photos with unique views featuring the red-tiled roofs of Old Tbilisi and the accompanying Kura River. We then move to the Old Tbilisi (Old City) area, which enchants with its wooden balconied houses, narrow streets, sulfur baths, and historic character.
